PFI Services at Airey Miller

At Airey Miller, we have extensive experience in project management, building surveying, mechanical engineering (M&E), and hard facilities management (FM) compliance.  Alongside this, we have expertise and experience in all matters related to Private Finance Initiative (PFI) including Centre of Best Practice surveys.  These skills and experience, developed over many years, enable our team to advise public sector and commercial clients at all stages of their PFI and PPP contracts including end of defects, mid-term reviews and the all-important preparation for the end of concession.

We aim to assist single or joint clients as parties to PFI contracts to optimize these, ensuring that contractual obligations are met in terms of whole condition, FM compliance, and output of building services such as ventilation, acoustics, lighting etc. Airey Miller combines this, with the ability to offer fire-related services such as compartmentation and fire door surveys, fire strategy planning, and PAS9980 assessments.

PFI costs form a significant proportion of public sector expenditure on health, education, MoD, and other buildings which makes this a key issue for government departments. We have extensive experience in the healthcare and education sectors in a PFI setting as well as defense, blue light, office, and housing sectors.

As PFI surveyors, acting for different clients we are aware of the sensitivities when there are contractual uncertainties. We aim to address these to help clients reach agreed positions which in turn allow the concessions to run smoothly to their conclusion.

The Airey Miller Surveys Limited PFI team is led by Director, Nick Meurice MSc FRICS CIWFM from their Sevenoaks head office.  As a chartered building surveyor with 35 years of experience, Nick has developed, operated, and audited Private Finance Initiative (PFI) facilities for the past 15 years. The surveys team specialise in detailed reviews of PFI facilities throughout the UK using bespoke data collection software, looking at conditions, contract compliance, MEP services, and fire matters.

Nick heads up the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) surveys unit specialising in detailed reviews of PFI facilities throughout the UK. He has 15 years of experience with PFI and similar projects and 35 years as a chartered building surveyor.
