Information and BIM Manager Lloyd Patman diarised his involvement at this year's BIM Show Live.
What it was:
A Golden Thread for Asset Management. A packed audience at BIM Show Live hear how a designer, an information manager and a data/software specialist have collaborated over the last few years on different projects, trying out different methods to create and deliver better asset information. Lloyd from Airey Miller explained the increasing emphasis clients are placing on getting reusable asset information and Das from David Miller described the three different ways they have tried to deliver those requirements. He explained what worked and what needed improving – and how they brought in George from ActivePlan to support the data side and develop the processes they could use with the rest of the supply chain to automate the process. George also explained how they have researched in detail the types of applications used by the operations teams, what data they require and what they do with it. The Golden Thread requires a Golden Key for each asset type, and we need to work together to make the delivery of that a seamless process. If this topic interests you, please get in touch and you can join our collaboration.
The event itself was a great success with some of the industry greats and experts getting together to both link up and push the envelop on what clients want and need. The introduction of ISO, Golden Thread and Winfield Rock report were continuous topics of conversation with the former being seen as a good move. Overall the badge of BIM and BIM Level 2 start to get replaced with Digital Information and ISO, which is good and seen as a necessary move to address the issue of jargon and acronyms. A great event that has generate many existing and new client conversations.
