Airey Miller Attends Digital Construction Week
Airey Miller’s Information Management team attended the Digital Construction Week held at ExCel London on 17th and 18th of May 2022. The main focus of this event was the Golden Thread of Information and highlighting the importance of establishing good Information Management practices in as many organisations as possible.

One of the most relevant discussions on this topic was held on the Main Stage and was delivered by Vicki Reynolds (i3PT), Aman Sharma (Totus Digital), Neil Hope-Collins (HSE) and Johnny Furlong (L&Q). The Building Safety Bill and digital golden thread – today’s priorities discussion attracted a considerable crowd of intrigued professionals and brought up some fundamental questions. One of the interesting remarks was how the Digital Golden Thread is not something to be procured but rather curated.

IM related talks were delivered on 3 stages and the audience was given the opportunity to share their views and raise questions with subject matter experts from the BSI, the UK BIM Framework and a number of other organisations. Technological advancement were also showcased on the Technology and Innovation Stages and the Transformation Hub. There was also a Net Zero Stage to highlight advancements in this area and discuss this increasingly-important topic.
Amongst the exhibitors we found some of our partners like Trimble (provider of Viewpoint, Airey Miller’s chosen Common Data Environment (CDE)), PlanRadar and Dalux along with other CDE service providers like Autodesk (BIM 360), Bentley Systems, Bluebeam UK Ltd., just to mention a few.
The shift from BIM to Information Management was emphasised, recognising the perceived barrier that the BIM label has been to driving change in the construction industry. Airey Miller have been providing BIM Information Management services to our clients for several years now and we have focused on how the project team works collaboratively and ensures the information deliverables and protocol are delivered through the CDE, generating the Golden Thread of information.
Airey Miller advocate Better Information Management to establish and maintain the Golden Thread and offer a number of services to achieve better project outcomes. Attending this event gave us the opportunity to get further involved in talks about topics that are essential in our industry at the moment.
