Through our contacts within the development sector, we introduced our client to three national housebuilders who had jointly acquired this site. We were asked to recommend and negotiate with a preferred housing association. We then worked with all developers to achieve D&QS compliance and code level 3, incorporating one of the largest biomass systems in South East England.

We were also responsible for ensuring specifications were consistent between each housebuilder and the client’s brief. This was a particular challenge because of the desire by all developers to use their own forms of specification and agreement. As several were not D&QS compliant we also effectively re-drafted their standard agreements.

The biomass heating system had several difficulties and we gained significant insight into the issues affecting such areas of ‘innovation’.
